So many people, artists (hey, they’re people too!), and businesses are coming together to make this year’s Deviant Art a spectacular show! We’re using art to tackle stigma and myths surrounding ‘deviant’ dog breeds and we’d love to have you join in. If you have any questions, please email me at deviantartarlp@gmail.com.

Call for Art – Deviant Art: Dispelling Myths

This will be my fourth year curating an art show focusing on dog breeds viewed as menaces or deviants. The show Deviant Art: Dispelling Myths has the goal of spurring conversation about these issues through art and raising awareness of A Rotta Love Plus’ programs.

A Rotta Love Plus is a Twin Cities Rottweiler and pit bull rescue where my George (seen above) and many other dogs get their chance to be happy dogs with bright futures. If you are an artist or would like to spread the word about the show, please use this link: http://www.wix.com/lar321/deviantart

Video with PartnershipMedia

I was privileged to work with the talented Dale Bluestein of PartnershipMEDIA when we created a segment about what I’ve been up to in the studio. Having video for an art studio reaches people in a way an ‘about me’ page cannot. Dale is very talented in drawing out the points to highlight my work and you wouldn’t know that I have a quirky way of talking with his editing ability! Stubby Dog Art Auction Painting

Meet Big Steve! Big Steve was painted for Stubby Dog, a non-profit, 501(c)(3), focused on changing public perceptions of pit bulls. The auction item was won by two great people in Florida and they will be giving Big Steve’s painting to his people in South Carolina. A little bit of Lintu Art is now enjoying the warm winter of the Southeast!

Rags to Riches noticed by Pioneer Press

Rags to Riches: A Dog’s Tale of Hope and Friendship was listed in the Pioneer Press as one of the top wonderfully illustrated children’s books! See what other books made the list here

Books are avaliable online at www.ragsthedog.com or in many local bookstores. I have a few copies in my studio and will sign the book and draw a happy little dog for the recipient. Here is a photo of the real Rags enjoying the sunshine.

Open Studio Saturday this weekend! www.northrupkingbuilding.com

How to start a commission with Lintu Art

I am visiting with guests at art fairs, crawls, boutiques etc and the question I field most of the time is “Do you create custom work?” The answer is a resounding “Yes!”. Art is a wonderful thing because there are unlimited possibilities but sometimes that is also intimidating. Every piece I create is unique and conversation is key but here are the steps it takes to create artwork with Lintu Art:

1. Let’s talk! I want to hear about the art’s subject, who is the artwork destined for, what inspired you to contact me, what your vision is. I love real conversation. It makes me connect with the journey of making the artwork.

2. A) Let’s set up the two hour sketch/photo session at either on-location or in my studio. (portraits $100+, mileage restrictions)
B) Either email/mail images to me or bring in a selection to the studio so we can sort through them together.

3. A 20% deposit gets the art process started.

4. I can host a private unveiling party in Lintu Art’s Gallery (Northrup King Building) where friends and family are welcome for food and drink or you are welcome to host a party. Sans party, artwork can be picked-up or shipped by the deadline we set for completion.

5. Enjoy the artwork in five steps!
